Howzat! Ipswich School cricketers selected for county squads

A group of Ipswich School pupils are celebrating after being selected for Suffolk and Essex junior cricket squads.

Sixteen pupils, including four girls and one pupil from Ipswich Prep School, were successful in being selected for the teams.  Two have been selected to play for Essex and the rest will be part of the Suffolk squad.  Nine of the pupils play for Copdock and Old Ipswichian Cricket Club, where Ipswich School has been a sponsor of the youth section for the last year.

Andrew Golding, Head of Cricket at Ipswich School, said: “I would like to congratulate all the pupils who have worked so hard to be selected for these teams.  We’re delighted with their success, and hope that the skills and experience they gain from playing with the county sides will benefit the school this summer!”

Martin Holland, President of the Copdock and OI Cricket Club, added: “The club has been very successful with a total of 30 players selected to join the Suffolk squads at the different age groups.  With the club and Ipswich School working together more closely, we are not just maintaining but extending the relationship we already have with the school, and it’s great to see our players and the school pupils doing so well.”
