Ipswich School climbs the Sunday Times Top Independent Schools List

Ipswich School climbed over 70 places in The Sunday Times’ top 200 independent schools list published in the paper last Sunday (22 November 2015).
The only Suffolk independent school to appear in the top 200, Ipswich School was rated 134th in the list based on its A Level and GCSE results in summer 2015.  At A Level 82% of exams were graded A* to B grades and 63.8% of GCSE exams were graded A* or A.  The school had 100% pass rate for students getting A* to E grades in their A Level exams. At GCSE 100% of students achieved the standard of at least five A*-C grades including English and Maths.  Six A Level students from Ipswich School took up places at Oxford and Cambridge this autumn.
“This is a great achievement and follows on from our success in our inspection a year ago when we were awarded the top rating of ‘excellent’ in every category by the Independent Schools Inspectorate.  We believe very much in unlocking potential and this position in The Sunday Times’ top 200 independent schools table is a reflection not only of the hard work that our pupils put into their studies, but also the passion that our teachers have in their subjects and the way they pass this on to those they teach,” commented Headmaster, Nicholas Weaver.
Entrance exams to the Senior School are being held on 26 January 2016.   The Prep School is accepting registrations for September 2016 entry with places available from Nursery to Year 6; taster sessions for younger pupils at the Prep are taking place in January.  Details are available on the school’s website: www.ipswich.school
