On Monday 9 June, Ipswich School was very lucky to have an author visit from Anneliese Avery – who has written three very successful books, Immortal Games, The Nightsilver Promise and The Doomfire Secret.
From a young age she has been interested in astronomy, which she was introduced to by her grandfather, Buster, who she named a star after, and she explained how she includes this in her books. She told Year 7s and 8s about her journey to success and all of the challenges she faced on the way. School Librarian Mrs Steward commented: “Annaliese said she loves being a writer and thinks she has the perfect job – she gave us lots of insights into her writing style and lots of us were amazed by the fact that she writes a complete draft of a book that she then throws away before starting on the next draft.”
At the end there was a chance to ask questions and get books signed. Then we did an activity to create our own stories. Thanks to everyone who organised it and to the Library and English Department for this great opportunity.
