Back in time for Drama fundraiser

Last Sunday, Year 12 and 13 Theatre Studies students took part in a 1940s afternoon tea fundraising event. Great School was transformed into a 1940s tea room, where the Three Chordettes, a fabulous trio of 1940s singers entertained the audience while they enjoyed their afternoon tea.

My peers and I were dressed in vintage tea dresses, hair up in victory rolls and tied back with a headscarf. We took on the role of waitresses delivering the array of sandwiches and cakes accompanied by hot tea and coffee to our wonderful guests.

The whole room was filled with chatting groups sitting at tables with vintage decorations and Union Jack flag bunting stretching across the walls, with the harmonised Three Chordettes singing gracefully in the background.

It was an extremely successful event with us reaching our target of £1000. This being the first of two fundraising events for the Edinburgh fringe trip in August where we will be performing a piece about Marie Antionette. The next event is a murder mystery night on Friday 27 May.
