On 16 May, Year 12 biology students went on a field trip to Holkham, Norfolk. The three classes were split into six groups. They had to walk up to two miles from the car park to the sampling site on the beach. Weather on the day was better than expected, with only temporary drizzles of rain throughout the day.
The main task for us was to collect sufficient data for the investigation of a succession of different plant species in sand dunes from the coast at Holkham. Types of data collection involved were the infiltration rates of soils, soil temperature, soil samples and the percentage coverage of different plant species. The data that was collected will be brought back to school where it will be used to complete the investigation on the succession in sand dunes.
Overall, it was a considerably nice day out where students were able to get some practical work done.
