First Giving Day!

A core value of Ipswich School is care, especially when it comes to caring about education, and providing the best education to children in our region who would otherwise not be able to attend.

This would not be possible without the generosity of donations through various fundraisers thrown at the school. This year’s key fundraiser is the school’s first ever Giving Day, 36 hours of activities, break time stalls and online challenges to raise money for two important school funds which provide support with fees.

Giving Day will begin at 9am on Wednesday 29 June, and will go on until Thursday 30 June where it’ll finish at 9pm. The aim of the event is to raise funds for the Founding Futures bursary fund and Phoenix hardship fund. This second fund was helping 44 families pay for their school fees at the peak of the pandemic, whilst the first fund provides 100% bursaries to help young people access an Ipswich School education who couldn’t otherwise afford it.

The day will also be a wonderful way to celebrate the unique fabulousness of Ipswich School and the close-knit
community we have here. Although Giving Day is predominantly an email and social media campaign, over the two days there will be stalls and activities for pupils to enjoy in school, including an Ipswich School themed bake-off and bake sale, cookies sale, a tug of war between subject departments, and an ice cream stall. In addition to this, there is an aim for pupils in the school to be sponsored to run round the school field. We hope to achieve 1399 laps, synonymous with the year the school opened. We’ll bring you more details of all the activities in a future Occasional, so that you can plan to bring some money to spend and donate through the array of activities!

Old Ipswichians, former teachers, parents, governors and anyone with a link to the school are encouraged to get involved, share their memories and what they love about this school. A series of ‘challenges’ will be posted online during the campaign to unlock match-funding from the Old Ipswichian committee which has pledged £25,000 to support the campaign.

Donations can be taken at school during the celebrations, as well as via the website being launched today.
Look out for IS Posts or follow our Ipswich School social media channels for announcements to find out more soon.
There’ll also be a hashtag #ipswichschoolgivingday where everyone is encouraged to share memories and post
stories about their time at Ipswich School, or just post pictures of the events. We will keep you posted!
