Our Year 11 art students visited Tate Britain and immersed themselves into the sea of gorgeous artworks there. The students took inspiration from the art to help them develop, and many lovely sketches were drawn while we were at the gallery.
The artists in Tate Britain are all amazing and in the whole art gallery we really enjoyed seeing how the style of painting changed over time. The scale of the paintings is also very impressive. Some are very tiny but have very fine detail, some are as huge as the building!
Although this art trip was only for artists in Year 11, we still strongly recommend you go there and have a walk!
After going to the gallery, you can get on the tube and get the best bubble tea in the UK in Goodge Street.
Our favourite artwork was Rough Sea with Wreckage by Joseph Mallard William Turner. In this painting, you can see that Turner has really considered the colours. The ashy and grey colours match really well, and the colour blends in naturally and it is very rich in texture. The properties of oil paint are presented in this painting. There is no clear horizon in this painting which is Turner’s style.
