Applaud Coffee is a specialty coffee shop that serves breakfast, seasonal lunches, homemade cakes and scones. We are situated on St Peter’s Street in Ipswich – a great street full of independent businesses – just a short walk from the Waterfront.

This summer we are proud to celebrate five years in business! For the second year running we have linked up with Mrs Warren and the Year 6 classes from Ipswich Prep School with a cookery competition. The Year 6 pupils are split into small teams and set the task of creating a scone recipe, adding ingredients of their choice to make it special.

Once they have made the scones in the classroom they must write up and submit their recipe to us.  A couple of the Applaud Coffee team, who bake all our cakes, look through the recipes and choose two entries to test out in our kitchen. Once they are out of the oven, the rest of the staff team sample the scones and we select our winner.

We recently went to the Prep School to announce the winning team and awarded them with certificates as well as gift vouchers to spend in the coffee shop.  The winners created a ‘Honey Berry’ scone. Their special ingredients were honey and freeze dried raspberries.  Many congratulations to all who took part in the competition, and especially the winners.
