Hundreds of shoeboxes donated to Ukraine

Hundreds of shoeboxes were piled into an Ipswich School minibus last Monday to go to help Ukranian refugees. Thanks to a link up with Bury St Edmunds based charity GeeWizz, the boxes filled by Ipswich School pupils and families will be making their way across Europe as part of a huge charity effort in Suffolk. DT Teacher Mrs Clark, who had organised the Ipswich School appeal, said she was overwhelmed by the response, and the volunteers at GeeWizz were similarly delighted to see all the boxes come off the Ipswich School bus.

In other charity efforts, three Year 11 pupils Cara, Gracie and Heidi – are selling donuts at break on Fridays to raise funds for British Ukranian Aid. The non-uniform days have made over £3000 to be split between Suffolk Rape Crisis (the school charity of the term) and the Red Cross Ukranian appeal. Thank you so much to everyone who has generously supported these appeals

People may also wish to donate online to organisations such as the British Red Cross or other charities in the Disasters Emergency Committee, and businesses such as the John Lewis Partnersip are match funding some of the donations made: https://donate.redcross.org.uk/appeal/ukraine-crisis-appeal-jlp
