Ipswich School congratulates former pupil on sports award
Congratulations to Old Ipswichian Harry Martin, who was named Sports Personality of the Year at the Suffolk Sports Awards on Friday (15 November).
Harry was the youngest member of the Team GB hockey squad who played at the 2012 London Olympics, and is a regular in both the GB and England men’s hockey teams.
Headmaster Nicholas Weaver said: “Congratulations to Harry Martin – this is a thoroughly well-deserved title. His success through hard work and determination makes him an excellent role model for pupils throughout Ipswich School.”
Harry’s former coach at the school, teacher David Walsh, added: “Many congratulations to Harry on being named Suffolk Sports Personality of the Year. He has continued to go from strength to strength with his hockey, cementing his place in the GB and England squads and being part of the Beeston squad which won the Premier League, and has achieved all his successes at the same time as continuing with his Economics degree course at Nottingham University. We are very proud of him!”
