National finals for Middle School Quartet

Our Middle School Quartet – whose members are Colin C and Tallulah D, violin; Flo C, viola and Basti T, cello – have had an amazing term participating in the Pro Corda National Chamber Music Festival for Schools.

This is a competitive festival split into four age groups. The quartet participated in the qualifying round and semi-finals at Pro Corda in Leiston and at each stage they were given useful feedback in the form of mini-workshops. From the semi-final they were selected as one of five groups to reach the national finals in their age group.

The finals were held at Millfield School in Somerset last weekend and groups from all over the country came to take part. Our quartet didn’t win, but the whole experience has been both exciting and positive. If any pupils are interested in starting chamber music, please speak to Mrs M Williams in the Britten Faculty of Music.
