Prep School Residential Trips

Prep School Residential Trips 2
10th June 2019 By Ipswich Prep School in Ipswich Prep School

Summer term is always a good time to get outside, at Ipswich Prep we do this all year round! We place a great deal of importance on outdoor learning, developing skills and learning to work with others whilst having fun at the same time!

Our children from Years 4-6 have just come back from residential trips to the country. Years 4 and 6 have just come back from Birch Hall and Year 5 has been to Hilltop. The children enjoyed activities such as archery, team challenges, sailing, bushcraft cooking, cycling, climbing high ropes and night walks, two year groups stayed under canvas. The opportunity to go on such valuable experiences as this from younger ages on such a regular basis is just one example of the difference between independent and state education.

There are some other striking differences. First there is the chance to be taught by specialist teachers at an early age. This might mean being taught Maths or Science by a teacher who really knows the best way to explain concepts and theories and share their passion for their subject.

Equally, the children could be taught by specialists in art, music, games or languages – and at the Prep, children get the chance to sample a range of different modern languages including Spanish and Russian.  All this means that older children get to move round the school rather being stuck in a single classroom, and this prepares them for life in the Senior School and beyond.

Then there are the huge opportunities open to the children in a range of clubs and societies, including skiing, fencing and horseriding.  We are also lucky enough to have excellent facilities including dedicated libraries for younger and older children, ‘state of the art’ music and science rooms, and great games and play facilities.

Above all, we believe that the variety, expertise and facilities we offer gives children the best possible educational grounding, which pays huge dividends the older they get.  And, finally, we believe that we really can make education fun and an adventure.
