Return to school arrangements for Lent Term Jan 2021

04 Jan 2021

Following the Secretary of State’s announcement (30/12/2020) about the phased return to school for senior school pupils and the lateral flow testing programme, we have made adjustments to the start of term plans for Ipswich School.

Pupils in the Senior School (Years 7 to 13) will receive a full programme of online teaching for the first two weeks of term, from the start of term on Tuesday 5 January.

Plans for mass testing of pupils and staff using the ‘lateral flow tests’ have been communicated to parents and staff, and will start with pupils in Years 11 and 13, boarders and Senior School support and teaching staff. This will roll out to Year 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12 in the week following.

Year 11 pupils are due to take their mock GCSE exams on their return to school following the testing process, week beginning 11 Jan, when Year 13 pupils will also return to on-site teaching. It is expected that all pupils in the Senior School will be back to on-site teaching from 18 Jan.

The Prep School will also move to online learning for all children from Reception to Year 6 from Tues 5 Jan 2021, having considered the advice and information we have been given from various sources.

The Nursery Class will be open for those parents who wish to send their children in, in addition to our Key Worker provision, but we will also provide an online provision for them should parents decide to keep their children at home.

The Lodge Day Nursery is open as usual at present.

At present, we will not be welcoming visitors to our school sites, but will continue to carry out virtual tours for prospective parents and pupils. Please contact our admissions team for more details: admissions@ipswich.school
