The wellbeing programme at Ipswich School is dedicated to meeting the individual needs of each student, and has resulted in the school being shortlisted for the wellbeing award this year.
Our Wellbeing Lead offers daily one-to-one sessions which students can arrange directly or through their pastoral team, providing a gentle approach to exploring their feelings. We also fund six professional counselling sessions for those needing additional support.
All Sixth Formers receive Mental Health First Aid training, enhancing their ability to support themselves and peers, addressing areas like active listening and empathy. They also take part in an innovative Transition Toolkit which helps to equip them with coping strategies for leaving school and home.
Parents are offered online drop-in sessions to discuss strategies for supporting their child, and there are termly parenting workshops available too.
We host talks to enhance students’ overall wellbeing, and provide information to coincide with awareness weeks. This has led to more students feeling less stressed, better able to handle anxiety, and more knowledgeable about techniques to help.
