At the end of last term, Sixth Form students involved in arts subjects had the opportunity to spend two nights in London, and experience various creative activities in the capital. A Level Art, Drama, Textiles, Photography, Music, and DT travelled down on the train to enjoy a weekend of immersive artistic events.
Over the weekend, students visited museums and galleries, theatres and colleges in their subject groups, but also came together for an evening theatre excursion to ‘Small Island’ at the National Theatre, as well as a drama workshop with the cast of the play.
The theatre trip took place on the Thursday night, soon after we arrived in the city. It was an interesting (and relatively new) production, exploring both Jamaica and the UK during the Windrush ship crossing. The acting and staging was incredible and was an unforgettable night for all.
On Friday, subject groups split up to explore places relevant to our A Level. This included various adventures to Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre (for drama students) and the Tate Gallery (for art students). Along with our separate experiences, all students had the opportunity to explore the amazing and expansive Victoria & Albert Museum.
For everyone, the nights away proved inspiring and enthralling, with events being tailored to our studies, enhancing each of our own experiences. Thank you to all the staff supporting and organising this incredible trip!
