There will be a new addition to this month’s Open Day, with a special event aimed at potential sixth formers running after the two tours of the Senior School in the morning and the open afternoon at the Prep School.
The Sixth Form Skills Seminars and Information Event has been designed by the Sixth Form Team to help Year 11 pupils from local schools to see what is on offer here at Ipswich School after GCSEs.
Zos Austin, Head of Sixth Form, said that they wanted to offer something practical for the student visitors, so they can book on to two different skills seminars, from a choice of ‘A Levels and beyond’, ‘Study skills and revision tips’, and ‘Beating exam stress’. There will also be the chance to speak to current Year 12 students about their A Levels and co-curricular activities, and to have a look round the facilities in the Sixth Form Centre. And of course there will be drinks and cookies to keep people going!
Mrs Austin said: “If you’re still not 100 per cent sure about what you’re going to do when you finish your GCSEs, the Skills Seminars event will be an ideal opportunity to come and talk to the Sixth Form Team and current students, who can explain about the different way of working in the Sixth Form.”
The event runs from 5-6.30pm on Thursday 19 April. Bookings can be made online: www.ipswich.school/openday. There are limited places available so please book quickly.
The Senior School will be open in the morning from 9.30am – 12noon, with two tours of the school available to book on to, one at 9.30am and one at 10.45am, and also a welcome from Headmaster Nicholas Weaver. In the afternoon from 12.30-3pm the Prep School will be open. More information on both these events, which will give visitors the chance to see the schools on a normal working day, and the online booking forms are at www.ipswich.school/openday
