Sponsored line dance - ‘Dancing for Doors' Day
On Thursday 26 February 2015, the Prep held a ‘Dancing for Doors’ Day where the children, from Nursery to Year 6, were sponsored to do a non-stop line dance. Each class took it in turns to take part throughout the day and there was a continuous line of dancing going, including break and lunchtime. Everyone at the Prep - pupils and staff, together with some members of the Senior School, staff and pupils, and visitors from the Thomas Wolsey School - all took part. Classes from the Nursery to Year 2 danced for 15 minutes each and Year 3 to Year 6 classes danced for 25 minutes. They were also joined by one-handed pianist Nicholas McCarthy, who is one of the school's Music Patrons.
Each year the Prep chooses a different charity to raise money for and this event was held in aid of the Thomas Wolsey School Opening Doors campaign. An automatic door will really help the Thomas Wolsey school, as it will allow pupils, who have moderate to severe physical and associated learning difficulties, to become more independent. Each door costs £3,000 and last term, with everyone’s support, the Prep managed to raise a staggering £3,600. Although the final count for this year's event has yet to take place, we know the children have raised about £4,000 in sponsorship. The day was a huge success and the money will be used to help Thomas Wolsey School to buy automatic door openers.
