Superb Spanish Trip to Salamanca

The Easter holidays started with a bang for Year 10 Spanish students, who embarked upon a very exciting trip to the beautiful city of Salamanca.

It was an extremely early start for us, as the bus left Ipswich at 2:45am, and after a long morning of travelling, we touched down in Madrid at around 1pm. We then spent the afternoon exploring monuments in Madrid such as the Guernica and the Santiago Bernabeu – the home of Real Madrid. Finally, we arrived in Salamanca at around 8pm, where we met our host families and settled down for a much needed sleep.

Throughout the five days of the trip we had fun Spanish lessons in the morning, visited the stunning Salamanca University – which is the 3rd oldest in the world, danced in flamenco lessons, ate a lot of churros and much more. We enjoyed exploring Salamanca as we got to see the city which was very beautiful and there were many jaw-dropping landmarks there. Additionally exploring the city gave us freedom to have fun with our friends and try new things and Spanish delicacies like gazpacho and paella.
We had two nights where we went to restaurants. The first was the tapas night in which we went to three different restaurants. The food at all three restaurants was delicious and everyone enjoyed each bite of their food.

The second night was paella night. On this night we had a three course meal at a restaurant on the edge of the city. All three courses were amazing and the food was getting devoured quicker than it could come out!

Overall the trip was a massive success with lots of memories being made. We did lots of different activities all of which were very enjoyable and the hosts were all lovely and welcomed us to Salamanca.
