Ukraine concert and art sale raises £3260

On the evening of Friday 31 March, a joint concert and art sale took place to raise money for a Ukrainian school for the deaf. Some former pupils joined current pupils and formed Camerata and Cantores, an orchestra and choir especially for the event. Ensemble and solo performances featured works by Vivaldi, Mozart, Schubert and Tallis.

A choral piece by contemporary Ukrainian composer Natalia Tsupryk was received especially well by the audience. Mrs Todd and Mrs Dawson also performed. During the interval there was a short talk on the cause and where the raised funds would be going which really brought the point of the concert home.

The concert was supported not only by pupils and their parents, but also by the Senior Management Team, Art Department, the Music Office, Mr Sadler, Catering, Marketing, and Miss Cooley and Mrs Caley who kindly ran the front of house. Along with the sale of art, which had been generously donated to be sold, the event raised £3260, so many thanks to everyone for their contributions.
