Wins for girls’ indoor cricketers

Last Tuesday, the U13 Girls Indoor Cricket Team competed in the Area Finals at Inspire Suffolk. Ipswich played Orwell Park in game 1 and after a shaky start posted an excellent total of 76 runs from 8 overs, thanks mainly to an excellent batting partnership between Elke B and Georgia G. Ipswich bowled with control and accuracy in reply, taking wickets (a number to Izzy G and Lilia C over the four games) at regular intervals and finishing winners by 20 or so runs.

The next three games followed suit with further victories achieved against RHS, Ipswich High and Woodbridge. The Ipswich batters ran well between the wickets and the bowlers kept pressure on the opposition with some precise and smart bowling throughout. There was also some strong fielding displayed combined with excellent leadership from Georgina H and Eliza F.

All members of the team should be very proud of their collaborative efforts and can take much confidence and momentum into the next round in a few weeks time. It was then the turn of the U15 girls to take part in their tournament, which saw another decisive set of games for Ipswich. They won by 33 runs against RHS, won by 26 runs against Wodbridge and won by 40 runs against Ipswich High School. Ipswich played with energy and confidence throughout the tournament, showcasing excellent batting and bowling proficiency and skill. Team cohesion and confidence grew with each game and every player has much to be proud of and carry through to the next round later in the month. Congratulations and well done to all.
