Year 6 ‘Taste of India’ day
A highlight for the children was the tasting of a range on Indian food for lunch, kindly provided by the local Maharani Indian restaurant. Delicious!
The afternoon was topped off with some sweet Indian treats cooked and made by a Year 6 parent. What an exciting and interactive way to learn about India!
Quotes from Year 6 children:
‘Yesterday I tried some Indian food - curry, naan bread, pakora and rice. The curry was great to eat with the bread and chicken. My favourite was the chicken and rice. I have never tried curry before but now I have and I loved it. I am glad I tried it!’
‘On Thursday 8th May, Year 6 had an amazing day learning about India! First of all, we tasted an Indian curry with rice and naan bread - it was delicious! After lunch we split into three groups and did different activities. We did dancing which was really fun and exhausting. The next activity was in the art room and we used powder and coloured rice to make colourful patterns. The last activity was music where we played percussion instruments to make our own rhythm. They were loud and noisy. To finish the day, we tried some Indian sweet snacks. They were nice and really sweet. We were then shown how to put on a sari.’
