Christmas fun at Ipswich School and Ipswich Prep

15th December 2017 By Ipswich School in Ipswich School General

The snowfall in the second week of December helped Ipswich School and Ipswich Prep to take on a Christmas-y feel just before the end of term.

There were the usual nativity plays at the Prep School, plus a production of ‘Lights, Camel, Action’ and Christmas Concerts, and also Carol Services in the school chapel and at St Mary-le-Tower church in the centre of Ipswich. Ipswich School sponsored a Christmas tree as part of St Mary-le-Tower’s Christmas Tree Festival.

The Senior School celebrated the start of December with Crash into Christmas, an evening showcasing the many school ensembles organised by the Britten Faculty of Music, and finished the end of term with a staff production – The X Factor’s Got Talent – raising money for the school’s charity, the African Children’s Choir.

Pupils and staff at the Prep School wore red and green and got creative as elves in Santa’s Workshop, whilst the Senior School enjoyed a festive Christmas Jumper Day. Both schools worked together to donate a massive 194 shoeboxes to the Operation Christmas Child project.

Ipswich Prep also featured a special Advent Calendar for your Twitter feed, featuring Prep staff in their festive finery.

The boarders at Westwood House made the most of the snowfall – the first heavy snow in Ipswich for many years – and made some snowmen, a first for some of our overseas pupils.

We are looking forward to starting off the new year with the exciting launch of the Lodge Day Nursery, opening in January 2018. www.lodgedaynursery.co.uk

We’ll be back on Thursday 4 January, welcoming 2018 with more excitement and hard work inside and outside the classroom – until then, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
