Ipswich School opens its doors!

Open Morning on Saturday 30 September was a wide and varied showcase of all of things that Ipswich School has to offer.

From Punch and Judy in the Art Department to an exploration of language and culture on the MFL corridor, solving a History Mystery and seeing some Chemistry in action, preparing microscope slides in Biology and answering Big Questions in PRE, there was plenty to see and plenty to do.

Parents of prospective pupils were shown round by current pupils, who explained subjects and co-curricular activities with great professionalism.

Visitors could also enjoy short open air concerts by the Big Band and the Saxophone Ensemble, who wowed guests with their well-rehearsed and professional performances. Furthermore, there were stands outlining the core values of Ipswich School, and how we care for students around the school, and the Bursar and Director of Admissions were on hand to answer any questions that prospective parents might have had about coming to Ipswich School.

There were also two presentations by Headmaster Mr Weaver on what makes Ipswich School special, which were very well attended by visitors.

As the school bustled with life, even on a Saturday morning where most students would still be in bed, the Occasional journalists were struck by the amount of things going on around the school to appeal to all ages.

Mr Weaver told the Occasional at the end of the morning: “It’s been buzzy and busy and I am so proud of all our pupils and staff.”

Thank you to all who gave up their Saturday morning to help in departments and on co-curricular stands for making this such a successful Open Morning!
