Philanthropy at Ipswich School
Throughout its 600 plus year history the school has faced many challenges, particularly financial, and we are indebted to a long list of former pupils, benefactors and the town of Ipswich itself alongside former and current parents whose donations, gifts and fees have helped provide the wonderful facilities and educational opportunities we enjoy today. From the patronage of Cardinal Wolsey, to more recent examples generosity of Old Ipswichians, parents, local businesses and other charitable bodies, these gifts have helped the School to endure.
Ipswich School has no intention of resting on its laurels when it comes to the provision of opportunity, and our impact on our local community. Our ambition is to provide the transformational opportunity of an Ipswich School education to every child who has the potential to thrive here regardless of their background or ability to pay fees, and to do so in an environment that provides the very best from buildings to teaching to co-curricular opportunities to pastoral care.
Thanks to sound management and prudent spending decisions, Ipswich School’s finances are secure. This combined with fee income means that we are able to meet the School’s day-to-day running costs as well as funding modest projects that bring improvements to the facilities and the teaching on offer. However with no endowment to rely on, those projects that will take Ipswich School from exceptional to extraordinary can only be realised in partnership with generous friends and supporters who share our vision.
A donation to Ipswich School represents an investment in every young person who comes here –- an increasingly diverse and talented cohort who, thanks to the education and experience on offer leave us with the confidence and knowledge that will enable them to have an impact in wider society. Join us in becoming a catalyst for their success.
“My memories of School were of great friends, of always playing sport and of many happy days. I was pleased to have an opportunity to give something back to the School so that pupils can hopefully get as much enjoyment from their School days as I had.”
