Recent Projects

Thanks to the generous and ongoing support of Old Ipswichians, the Friends of Ipswich School, former parents, companies and trusts and foundations, these are just some of the projects that Ipswich School has been able to realize:

New Music School - Phase 1

The New Music School opened its doors to pupils and staff in September 2015 and was officially opened in March 2016 by one of the project's patrons, Julian Lloyd-Webber. There is no question that without the wonderful generosity of the Old Ipswichians, parents, staff, other friends of the School and a number of local trusts and foundations, this fantastic facility would not have been possible. The New Music School, particularly the realization of Phase 2 will support the development of music at Ipswich School for many years to come.

Read our blog post about the opening here. You can watch a short film about the opening of the New Music School here.

The Lingwood Pavilion

Pupils playing sport at the Westwood Boarding House facilities are now able to benefit from a lovely new pavilion thanks to a generous donation by Old Ipswichian Nigel Lingwood.

The pavilion has changing rooms for home and away teams, a kitchen area, plenty of tables and chairs for pupils and supporting parents to use, and a viewing balcony - most important to keep an eye on those winning moves!

It has also provided a useful base for the Prep School when they are carrying out outdoor learning and bushcraft activities at Westwood House - such as building fires and cooking sausages.

Mr Lingwood chose to support the project as it was close to where he spent a lot of time whilst he was at school here, and hoped that many pupils would enjoy the new building.

Bursaries

Through regular giving, one-off gifts and through the inaugural telephone campaign in 2016, over £100,000 was given to support bursary places at Ipswich School last year. This vital funding means that the School can provide places to children for whom coming to Ipswich School would otherwise prove impossible. It is our ambition to enable more children to benefit in this way, and ultimately enable every child with talent and ambition to succeed here to take up a place at Ipswich School.

New Audio Equipment in Great School

Thanks to your generosity, Ipswich School was able to purchase brand new audio equipment at a cost of £9,000 which was installed in Great School, benefitting not only the outstanding drama and music performances that the School puts on every years, but for other uses such as presentations, talks and other events. Support for smaller projects such as this brings real benefits to our pupils and makes a tangible impact to the day-to-day life of the School.
