Heritage Open Morning, Sat 15 Sept
Heritage Open Days is a national campaign which gives people the opportunity to look behind the scenes at some of the country's finest buildings, including those not usually open to the public, and is a great opportunity to celebrate our heritage, community and culture.
Ipswich School will be open on SATURDAY 15 SEPTEMBER from 9am to 12noon and there will be the opportunity to go on a guided tour behind the scenes of the famous Henley Road facade. These tours will take place at 9am, 10am and 11am. Anyone interested in going on one of the tours should meet at the Henley Road reception, directly opposite the entrance to Christchurch Park.
The School, which has records going back to 1399 or earlier, has been situated on Henley Road since 1852. The tours will include the 19th and 20th Century school buildings, with a visit to the School's Chapel, which has Victorian stained glass windows, and the chance to look at the School Library, with stained glass windows by John Piper, and which was recently granted Grade II listed status.
