Boys' Hockey

At Ipswich School we have a proud record of producing teams that perform at the highest level in regional and national competitions both outdoor and indoor and are very ambitious about our future.

Our aim is to provide the highest level of coaching and opportunities for our students so we can perform consistently on the National stage across all age groups year in year out.

At senior level, students have the opportunity to play two terms hockey and compete in the highest level of England Hockey Competition formats.  Alongside playing at the top level, there are further opportunities for high achieving players across all year groups to develop through our academy system which operates all year round.  We believe our students shouldn't have to pay to have additional high level coaching outside of the school structure.  We provide this within the programme with the opportunity to train up to four times per week in season as well as further individual sessions and S&C development if desired by the student.

As well as producing players at the top level we also cater for those pupils who enjoy hockey on a games afternoon and thrive in teams appropriate to their ability.  The fixture list is varied with fixtures against local schools and those further afield.  We also offer open clubs after school for those who want to participate in more than just our games sessions.

Whether playing at National Finals or participating with friends in a social fixture, our students take great pride in pulling on the Ipswich School shirt.  It is important to us that staff and students feel unity and pride when playing for the school and we work hard to create this.

We have invested heavily in the hockey facilities with three state-of-the-art pitches on our Rushmere site, soon to include the addition of high quality video analysis setup and an additional surface at Westwood Boarding house site.

Pupils have the opportunity to tour and experience playing hockey abroad with tours to Holland, Belgium, South Africa to name a few.
