Curriculum

Enjoy a broad curriculum that gets great results

You will take your A Level exams at the end of Year 13, as a result of government reforms of A Levels

You will all start studying four subjects in Year 12, which gives you time to get to know what these subjects are like at A Level.  There is the option to drop to three subjects in Year 13, but many students wish to keep all four subjects on in Year 13 and we are keen to accommodate this if it suits you, and the timetable allows it.

We offer the range of academic A Level subjects you would expect from a leading independent school, as well as one or two different ones such as A Levels in Russian, and Drama and Theatre.

From September 2019, all our Sixth Form students will also take part in The Edge.  This will provide you with a range of skills including IT, cooking and health skills, as well as help with your university application and enable you to gain a leadership qualification.

We put a great deal into helping you to realise your potential and do your best in exams.

Teaching groups are small and teachers are specialists in their subject; many are also examiners, too.  You will get regular feedback to show you, and your parents, how you are doing in the twice-termly effort and attainment grades.

Departments run clinics each week to help you get to grips with any issues or topics you find difficult, and most also run carefully tailored revision programmes in the run up to exams.

In the summer of 2018, 19% of A Level grades awarded were A* and 77% of grades were A* to B.  These are the highest results from any school in Suffolk. You can read more about our exam results here.
