Introduction to Prep

A School Designed for Happiness and Growth

At Ipswich Prep School, we believe childhood should be filled with discovery, curiosity, and joy.

Our role is to provide a supportive environment where every child is encouraged to love learning, grow in confidence, and explore a wide range of interests.

With a school full of teachers who ignite curiosity, each child reaches their full potential, both academically and pastorally.

The Prep School is made up of two sections:

  • Lower Prep: Reception to Year 2
  • Upper Prep: Year 3 to Year 6

At every stage, children are happy; happy because they enjoy their lessons, happy because they have a wealth of exciting activities to take part in, and happy because they are taught by staff who genuinely care about them and know them well.

Through this care, children at Ipswich Prep grow, thrive, and flourish.

Core Values and Learning Dispositions

Our school core values: Care, Passion, Potential, and Communication, underpin everything we do at Prep.

Alongside these, our five Learning Dispositions encourage pupils to develop key skills for life. Children are proud to demonstrate:

  • Resilience and Risk taking
  • Cooperation and Collaboration
  • Courage and Self belief
  • Curiosity and Enthusiasm
  • Independence and Initiative

These dispositions are celebrated across learning, play, and co-curricular activities, helping children develop confidence, independence, and a love of learning.

Pastoral Care at the Heart of Prep Life

Pastoral care is central to everything we do. Each child’s Form Teacher builds a deep understanding of their strengths and needs, supported by a wider team of specialists.

With everyone working together, you can be confident that your child is nurtured, supported, and valued every day.

A Time for Discovery, Adventure, and Friendship

A child’s time at Ipswich Prep is full of discoveries, adventures, and lasting friendships.

We look forward to welcoming your family to the school, so you can see for yourself how pupils learn, play, and grow in a supportive and inspiring environment.
