(Ages 4–7)
“A place where children feel safe, inspired, and ready to learn.”
At Ipswich Prep School, our Early Years and Lower Prep team are dedicated to giving every child a first-class start to their education.

Our broad and balanced curriculum fosters creativity, personal growth, and confidence, ensuring that every child is supported to fulfil their potential.
A Smooth Transition
Most children join Reception from The Lodge Nursery’s Pre-School class, though we warmly welcome all children from the September following their fourth birthday.
Teaching is led by highly qualified staff who know each child as an individual, providing personalised support and guidance.
Beyond the Classroom
Opportunities abound beyond the classroom, including:
- School trips to explore the world beyond the school gates
- After-school clubs to spark curiosity and widen horizons
Our small class sizes ensure that every pupil is truly known, and their voice is valued in learning and decision-making.
Strong Partnerships with Parents
We place great importance on working closely with families:
- Regular written reports
- Parents’ Evenings throughout the year
- Active encouragement of ongoing contact and two-way conversation
This partnership ensures each child is supported, guided, and celebrated at every stage of their development.
Moving to Upper Prep
At the end of Year 2, children transition confidently to Upper Prep, ready to continue their journey of learning, exploration, and personal growth.
