Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) Reports

The Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) is the body approved by the Secretary of State for Education to inspect independent schools such as Ipswich School.  

Both the Senior School and Prep School were visited by a team of ISI inspectors in September 2022, and at the same time Ofsted visited the Lodge Day Nursery to carry out an inspection of the provision for children aged 0-2 years.

On the two quality measures for the Prep School (including children aged 3-4 years at the Lodge) and Senior School – the quality of pupils’ academic and other achievements, and the quality of pupils’ personal development – both schools scored a double ‘Excellent’ – the highest possible rating.

The Ofsted report judged the Lodge Day Nursery as ‘Outstanding’ – again, the highest possible rating.

These judgements show that the school is providing the top level of education and care for children from 3 months to 18 years.

As well as inspecting the quality of education, the ISI inspectors also carried out a compliance inspection, to ensure that the school was meeting the required standards for things such as health and safety and the safeguarding of children. All the national standards were met.
