Admissions Process Guide
Supporting you every step of the way
We understand that choosing the right school for your child is a big decision. Our admissions process is designed to be clear, supportive and welcoming, helping you navigate each step with confidence. Below is a general guide outlining the typical stages for entry into Ipswich School, regardless of year group.
Our Admissions Process:
1. Online Application
Begin by submitting an online application form. This lets us know you're interested in a place at Ipswich School and allows us to start planning the next steps.
2. Optional Scholarship Applications
If you're interested in applying for one of our scholarships (e.g. Academic, Music, Sport, etc), complete the relevant scholarship application forms at this stage.
3. Parent Information Event (not Year 12 entry)
You’ll be invited to attend an information evening or open event to learn more about the school, meet staff, and ask questions.
4. Entrance Assessments (not Year 12 entry)
All applicants will be invited to sit age-appropriate entrance exams or assessments. These are designed to understand each pupil’s academic potential and ensure the best possible fit.
5. Scholarship Assessments (if applicable)
Applicants for scholarships will be invited to attend additional assessments or auditions depending on the area of scholarship.
6. Offers Made
Following assessments, successful applicants will receive an offer of a place. If applicable, scholarship offers may follow separately.
7. Offer Holders Event (just Year 7 entry)
Families who receive an offer will be invited to a special event to experience more of school life and meet future classmates and teachers.
8. Acceptance Deadline
To confirm your place, you'll need to formally accept the offer by the deadline stated in your offer letter.
9. Welcome and Induction
Ahead of joining, your child will be invited to an induction day to meet their tutors, explore the school and settle in before term begins.
