Co-Curricular Opportunities at Ipswich Prep
At Ipswich Prep, we provide children with outstanding opportunities to develop skills, confidence, and creativity through a wide range of activities, both within and alongside the curriculum.
We refer to these as co-curricular activities, reflecting that they are just as important as academic studies.
Trips and Outdoor Learning
Exciting trips are a regular part of Prep life:
- Day visits to local and regional attractions
- Residential outdoor adventures for Years 4–6, including Bushcraft and outward-bound experiences
Recent trips have included: Christchurch Park, Hedingham Castle, Flatford Mill, Minsmere, Layer Marney Towers, Colchester Zoo, and Colchester Castle.
Whether it’s exploring nature, meeting big bugs and reptiles, or learning to light a fire, every experience offers something new and memorable for our children.
Clubs and Activities
All children enjoy a timetabled ‘Activities’ slot each week, offering stimulating ventures designed to spark curiosity and develop skills.
From Reception upwards, pupils can take part in a broad range of clubs, which may run:
- In the morning
- During lunch breaks
- After school
Clubs vary by term, but include opportunities such as: skiing, construction, coding, orchestra, fives, chess, robotics, and more.
Music and Speech & Drama Tuition
At an additional cost, pupils can access specialist tuition in:
Lessons are delivered by visiting specialists during the school day, following a rota to ensure every child can participate. These opportunities allow children to develop talent, confidence, and a lifelong love of performance and music. |
