“The Ipswich School Music Festival is a celebration of talent, dedication, and the joy of music-making, bringing our community together through inspiring performances of the highest standard.”

Our extensive programme includes:

  • Come and Sing with John Rutter 

Saturday 3rd October 11:00-5:00pm 


Sing your heart out with John Rutter – an inspiring day of choral joy for all voices! Join celebrated composer and conductor Sir John Rutter for a joyful Come-and-Sing day.  You'll explore a selection of cherished choral repertoire spanning works by composers old and new alongside Rutter's own compositions. Led personally by John Rutter himself, this Come-and-Sing day promises to be an inspiring and memorable musical experience under his expert direction. Everyone's welcome, from experienced choir singers and those returning to song, to newcomers who can read a little music—no prep needed, just bring your voice and enthusiasm.  (this bit may not be correct . All of the proceeds from the day will support The Suffolk Opera Project (www.mfcsproductions.co.uk).

  • Alan Barnes and Dave Newton Newton Jazz Night

Expect a swinging Friday night of jazz excellence with Alan Barnes and Dave Newton – an entertaining evening of flawlessly played Jazz! Join acclaimed pianist Dave Newton  and multi-reed virtuoso Alan Barnes (saxophones and clarinets) for a delightful evening of jazz, featuring their masterful blend of sophisticated standards, vibrant improvisations, and timeless classics in a relaxed festival atmosphere. Perfect for jazz lovers and those seeking a memorable night out, this concert promises engaging performances from two virtuoso talents, with a bar available to complement your enjoyment.

  • Winter Concert

Join us for our School Winter Concert, a celebration of the exceptional young musicians across the school, featuring performances from our orchestras, Big Band, brass ensembles and choirs. This special evening promises a wonderful programme of music and a true showcase of the talent and dedication of our students.

  • Chamber Music - Alkyona Quartet

Friday 20th November 7:00pm

A memorable evening of chamber music featuring the acclaimed Alkyona Quartet, prize-winning interpreters of the string quartet repertoire known for their fresh, imaginative performances and warm audience connection. The programme will include Bach Brandenburg Concerto No 3 and Purcell's Fantasia in F Major in a special collaboration with talented chamber musicians from Ipswich School, celebrating the next generation of musical excellence.

Join Ipswich School Singers, led by conductor Andrew Leach, for a special day learning and singing Fauré’s Requiem. Whether you’re an experienced singer or simply enjoy choral music, you’ll be very welcome to take part in this rewarding and enjoyable session of music-making together.
