Eco Team plants 100 trees

On Thursday 10 November, members of the Eco Team activity planted over 100 trees as part of a national tree-planting programme. This was originally for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, but it now also commemorates the Queen’s death. They travelled to Ipswich School Sports Centre in Rushmere, and planted the trees behind the football pitch. There were many different tree species, including silver birch, rowan and hazel.

We interviewed Mrs Beasant, one of the activity leaders and asked her about this. Mrs Beasant said: “We are really proud of the Eco Team’s involvement in planting over 100 commemorative trees that will mature long into the future for people at Rushmere to enjoy and to help in the fight against climate
change.”

This also fits in with our school’s charity of the term: Just One Tree, an organisation which plants a tree in
places such as Brazil and Madagascar for every £1 donated.

Well done to all that helped out on the windy day to make something that people can enjoy for a long time.
