Ten students from Ipswich School are off to study either veterinary science or medicine at university this year following yesterday’s A Level exam results.
Will Woods (1 A*, 2 As & A* in EPQ), Sam Parmenter (1 A* and 3A) and Ella Rowledge (2 As, 1 B) will all be studying to be vets, whilst Bo Holburn (1 A*, 2 As & A* in EPQ), Daisy Linassi (3 A*), Rohan Groot-Wassink (4 As) and Anya Kwatra (3 A* & A* in EPQ) are four of the seven students with places to study to be doctors. Anya and Sam were the Ipswich School Head Girl and Head Boy last year, and will both be studying at the prestigious University of Cambridge.
Mr Calver, Deputy Head of Sixth Form, and who runs the specialist Vets and Medics programme at Ipswich School, said: “This is our most impressive number of students off to study these very competitive subjects for many years. We are very proud of them and the hard work they have put in to secure these results.”
Bo said: “It’s so reassuring to see that the hard work does pay off! I’m very excited for the energy and modern learning style of my medical school; it’s my life dream to study medicine and I feel I can finally do what I’m supposed to do.”
Anya added: “I was so relieved when I got my results. I’m very excited to start in a new city and very grateful to all my teachers.”
Anyone starting in Year 10 in September and who is interested in studying medicine or veterinary science at university should come to the Sixth Form Information Evening at Ipswich School on Tuesday 24 September, 5.30-8pm. Mr Calver and the Sixth Form team will be on hand to explain about the school’s MedSoc and the support which is provided to students for the specialised application process.
