Sport

From the first days in the Prep School, children are encouraged to improve their co-ordination and maintain a good level of physical fitness. Swimming is introduced at Reception, alongside PE and Games lessons, and as they become older a wider range of sports are played. Children from Year 2 upwards are encouraged to participate with confidence and enjoyment in team games and to compete in the wider community against teams from other schools. Sports include athletics, rugby, touch rugby, netball, hockey, football, cricket and rounders.

At Ipswich Prep School we are known for the many opportunities that the children enjoy in order to develop their sporting skills. We are fortunate to be able to offer coaching by high calibre specialists in a range of sports. Girls and boys teams are regularly successful at local and national levels in hockey, swimming and rounders.

“Pupils benefit from regular exercise through physical education and the many sporting opportunities on offer to them through the curriculum and the comprehensive range of clubs.”  Independent Schools Inspectorate Report, June 2013
