Chamber music success

It was great news for the Britten Faculty of Music last week, following the first stage of a national chamber music competition run by Pro Corda. Four teams from Ipswich School took part in the heat stages of the competition and three teams have now achieved places in the semi finals.

Director of Music Mrs Steensma explained that chamber music is a small group of musicians playing without a conductor, with one player to a part. She added that the students involved have worked very hard on some ‘very complex pieces’ and that those going on to the next stage of the competition are already preparing for the event which will take place at the start of March.

Well done to everyone involved and congratulations on those who went through to the next round: Ipswich School Senior Trio Asmee M, Ruiying C and Alfred H; Ipswich School Middle School Quartet – Colin C, Tallulah D, Florence C and Basti T; Ipswich School Junior Piano Trio – Lucas N, Lily C and Daniel I.
