There’s no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing…
Today we wrapped up well in our waterproofs and set off for our first day of adventures.
Forms A and C set off on a mountain walk, learning all about glaciation along the way. We saw plenty of roche moutonnees, jumped on moraines, and walked alongside waterfalls on our way to a corrie tarn. Waterproofs came into their own at points as the showers fell, with the corresponding benefit of spotting over five stunning rainbows.
Form D spent the day in and out of the ghyll tackling the white water, problem solving, and channelling their inner Robin Hood during archery. They learnt to work as a team and how to both lead and support each other.
Forms E and B went canoeing, built a raft and then went indoor climbing – bouldering and rock climbing were two new skills learnt, which even involving belaying as they climbed an overhang. Our pupils put in a fantastic effort and Fred was declared ‘a future Chris Bonnington’ by the instructors.
Well done all and here’s to an exciting week.
