Excellent results for Ipswich School’s largest ever group of GCSE pupils

Ipswich School Headmaster, Nicholas Weaver, said he was delighted with the excellent set of GCSE results recorded today (Thursday 25 August):

“I am very proud of our brilliant Year 11 pupils, who have worked hard, through a combination of in-school and remote learning, to achieve these excellent results today. I am particularly thrilled that 41 pupils achieved all their GCSEs at grade 7 or above – almost a third of our Year 11 pupils.”

“This is our largest ever GCSE cohort, 141 students, and we are delighted to celebrate their achievements today, following the successes of our A Level students last week.”

Andrew Bradshaw, Head of Middle School, said:

“I have been so proud of our GCSE pupils throughout their school careers and delighted that they have done so well. They are a remarkable group of students: positive, compassionate, fun loving, keen to make a difference, and great team players.

“This group has looked out for each other through some challenging times over the last few years and formed strong friendships in the process. I’m particularly pleased that, alongside their GCSE studies, they made the most of our co-curricular opportunities and contributed so much to the Ipswich School community: winning national sports awards, raising money for charity, setting up student clubs, and so much more. I look forward to seeing their leadership skills, enthusiasm and grounded approach to life play out in their Sixth Form careers and beyond. Well done Year 11 – I have thoroughly enjoyed working with you and I know that you have bright futures ahead!”

Nicholas Weaver added: “This is an exciting time for us, as we experience the highest ever demand for an Ipswich School education. Families are clearly recognising the breadth of opportunity in our co-curricular programme alongside a first class academic education.”
