Congratulations to girls on national cricket win!

U17 Girls National Cricket Champions

Ipswich School’s U17 girls brought another national cricket title back to Suffolk this week as they triumphed in the National Cup.

The T20 finals were held at Arundel Castle cricket ground. In our semi-final, we won the toss and elected to field first against Bradfield College. Due to rain, the overs were reduced to T15, but with some brilliant fielding and bowling of tight lines with some important wickets we kept them to 101-3 by the end of their 15 overs. In our batting, running hard and finding the gaps for boundaries allowed us to chase down their score efficiently, and see us into the finals by the 14th over.

In the finals we faced Forest School, winning the toss and electing to field again for the 20 overs. Despite their good start in the power play, we kept our high spirits and energy in the field, while a stunning hat trick from Ishani, a runout from Amie and a stunning delivery from Evie did some damage to their batting lineup, and an impressive fielding display from all allowed us to keep their total to 129. With a respectable score to chase at the crease, Eliza gave us a good start with her 24 off 21, and a brilliant partnership between Evie (54 off 43) and Bella (43 off 43), brought home the win, and we were U17 National Champions!

‘A brilliant team performance’ was highly praised by the tournament’s organisers, and every single member of the squad should be extremely proud of their performance and commitment to the team throughout the day.
