Indoor hockey team are third in country

Congratulations to the U18 boys for their success at the Indoor Hockey National Finals. Mr Edmondson, Director of Sport, said that their achievements were a lesson to all about the value of self belief.

Whilst they didn’t start the season well, some outstanding performances at regionals showed that they were close to national medal level. Mr Edmondson said: “They still had to combine all of their ability with a huge amount of grit to achieve the goal of a place in the semi final at Whitgift.”

In the group stages, an unconvincing win over Yarm was followed by a disappointing draw against Dean Close. But then a thorough dominance of Peter Symonds College in a superb performance allowed the boys to top the group and draw Whitgift in the semi final.

Mr Edmondson added: “The boys played with heart, passion and skill and were mere millimetres away from forcing the game to penalties, but as things stood they lost the game 2-3 to once again earn themselves the title of national Bronze medalists. It was a lesson to everyone that you do not truly know
what you are capable of until you have given the task your all.”

Another great achievement from an Ipswich School hockey team.
