Netball tournament is great success

On Sunday 7 January, the Ipswich School netball department hosted their first Performance Netball Tournament at Rushmere.

With 22 teams from around the country joining us, including school, club and county teams, we hosted an U16 and an U19 age group. The day started well, even if a little cold. In the round robin format, our 1st team won 7 out of 8 games, our 2nd team performed admirably against 1st teams and our U16s also only lost one game!

Unfortunately the weather turned closer and wetter bringing snow, rain and hail and we had to make the call to finish a little early. Our 1st team and U16s picked up their medals for finishing in third place – well done. We were fortunate to have Gilbert Netball and Edwin Doran Sports Tours sponsor our tournament and enjoyed having professional netball player Georgia Fisher join us for part of the day.

Big thanks to all the coaches, parents and players for supporting our first tournament which will now become an annual event.

Miss Carns, Head of Netball
