OI Events are extremely notable events at Ipswich School that include a multitude of Old Ipswichians returning. We were delighted to see so many of our Old Ipswichians take part in the cross country event. Mrs Brown, the school’s Development Director explained that the race gave them the chance to run the cross country route that they would have taken when they were at this school.
Ipswich School’s cross country team also took part, but the OI team were strong and beat the school into second place. Chris Wijnberg (OI 2004-18) won the race, and Gordon Irvine (OI 1990-97) was runner-up.
Mrs Brown, Development Director, said “It’s a brilliant event, plus the sun was shining, so it was very enjoyable.”
After the race there was a chance for food and drink in the New Dining Hall and a chance for the OIs to have a look around the school.
Next Friday, there is going to be a dinner in the Long Room at Lords, which is being organised by the current president of the OI club, Mr East, who used to play for Essex, and used to be a cricket coach here. The event will be attended by over 150 Old Ipswichians.
