Ipswich School’s Book Mastermind

Before half term Ipswich School held their first ever Book Mastermind competition based on the famous TV quiz show which has been running for over 50 years. Over the course of three heats, 16 brave pupils from Years 7-9 took a seat on our own version of the infamous black chair, and answered 20 questions about their chosen book in just 2 minutes. The Hunger Games was the most popular book choice with four entrants choosing to answer questions on it – other books included Pride and Prejudice by Jane
Austen, a number of Harry Potter books and Murder Most Unladylike by Robin Stevens.

Our eventual winner was Emma C scoring an amazing 19.5/20 with Betsy L following closely behind with 19/20 – both having chosen to answer questions on The Hunger Games. Emma will now go on to represent the school at the county finals in May. She will be cheered on by Betsy L, Nikita W, Alysha C and Penny D who finished in 2nd-5th places respectively.

In the final Emma will be asked questions on another book and will also face a General Knowledge round too. After the final, things will relax a little as our five students will take part in an author workshop.
