Reading Champions take part in quiz

Two teams from Ipswich School took part in the eastern counties heat of the National Literacy Trust’s Reading Champions quiz. We got to school very early to get on a minibus to take us to Northgate High School in Dereham, Norfolk. When there, we waited at our two tables of four people each, watching the clock on the screen slowly count down from 15 minutes.

The first round was on book blurbs, mentioning some previous book club books; the other rounds after that were also good, featuring sport, children’s laureates, videos and picture dingbats! The online host Mr Dilly made it fun and we had breaks between the rounds with biscuits to enjoy. There was a tie break for first place!

Unfortunately it included neither of our teams but we were very excited to hear that one of our teams had come in third place – just four points behind the winners! It was a great experience for everyone and we all enjoyed it. Team A – finished 3rd out of 25 teams and was made up of Penny D, Sophie M, Owen P and
Emma C. Team B featured Charlotte T, Amelia H, Penny B and Chloe W.
