The Art Department received nearly 30 entries for this year’s Summer Art Challenge, which was open to pupils from Years 7 to 10. The theme was ‘Where I’d like to Be’ and entries included mountain ranges, sushi racing down Australian hillsides and a whole variety of portraits, animals and landscapes.
Mr Parkin, Director of Art said: “I was really amazed by the quality of the outcomes this year, they were
absolutely fantastic, and probably the best we have had since I have been at the school.” He explained that there were a huge range of skills on show, including painting, digital art, drawing, crochet, embroidery, quilting and collage. There were also highly creative concepts and compositions, and some really inventive and skilful entries. He added: “I was especially impressed by the piece by Lauren H-B in Year 7, who took our winning slot, as it was so imaginative and witty to make a Ramen set so beautifully out of crochet. Lauren chose this theme as she loves going to Wagamama so much!”
If people want to see the entries, they are on display in the Art Department. Well done to everyone who entered.
