The national Duke of Edinburgh award scheme has revealed that Ipswich School pupils spent 1,521 hours volunteering between 1 April 2022 and 31 March 2023.
This service has been calculated to have a ‘social value’ of £7,315 – the extra value to the local community which is gained by the volunteer work that pupils completed. Mr Ross, who oversees the DofE scheme here said that some of the activities undertaken include coaching younger sports teams, working in a library or charity shop, being a marshal on Parkrun events, looking after pensioners in small villages, carrying out litter picks, running a website for a charity and helping primary schools.
This is a very valuable contribution to local organisations, so well done everyone who has contributed.
