World Book Day bake-off

On Thursday 7 March, a World Book Day bake-off was held in the library. There were many different genres featured in the entries, including cakes inspired by The Hunger Games, James Bond 007 and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

There were 15 cakes submitted for judging and lots of students queued to buy the cakes at lunchtime. The sale helped to raise over £130 for the school’s chosen charity of the term – Survivors in Transition. The overall winners were Bunny C-B (best looking, for her cake based on the Skandar book series by A F Steadman) and Anastasia M (best tasting, for her cake based on Thumbelina by Hans Christian Anderson), both from Year 8.

Librarian Mrs Steward said: “Once again we were amazed at the imagination, creativity and baking skills that were on show and I don’t know how Mr Benn was able to choose the winners.”

Well done to Anastasia and Bunny, and to everyone who took part!
