On Thursday 3 March pupils and staff were invited to come to school dressed as their favourite book character as part of World Book Day. Starting with an assembly led by our Librarian Mrs Mee – oh oops, we mean the Queen of Hearts – we enjoyed hearing about which books inspired various costumes, and later in the day everyone took part in a 30 minute whole-school read.
The ethos of World Book Day is to enable every child to be able to have access to a book and so pupils were invited, should they wish, to donate a book of their choice – whether it was one of their used favourites, or a new book perhaps – to our Red Rucksack Appeal. Mrs Mee connected us with the incredible organisation: EACH – The Treehouse Ipswich, where we will be donated the stories – to the children in their care and community.
